Mrs. Whitney Keown’s 3rd grade class participated in READBowl, a program put on by Read with Malcolm - Share the Magic Foundation. Her class placed 21st overall in the Big 3 Conference and at their highest week (Week 3) they were in 7th place. The students all had a blast and the class read a little over 1 million minutes in 4 weeks! Thank you, Mrs. Keown for putting this together for the students. 285,000 students participated from all 50 States and 14 Countries even participated, 180 million minutes were read in 4 Weeks. #literacymatters #sharethemagic #good2bgreen
Last week, our 3D printing class visited Parker Meggitt in Troy. The students were working on two different workplace challenges with Meggitt. One group was testing their 3D printed designs. The operators were impressed and grateful because the parts will make their job easier and speed up the production process. The second group got to assemble heat exchangers. Their challenge is to create a universal jig for assembling heat exchangers of all different sizes. Being able to assemble the exchangers will help the students come up with a better design for their jig. At the end of the trip, Meggitt surprised us with a generous donation of a 3D printer. We are grateful for the donation as well as the real world work experience with these challenges.
Perry Central high school cheerleaders held a cheer invitational last Saturday. They performed routines, showcased stunts, and performed tumbling passes. There was a catered lunch provided to teams and coaches! It was a fun, encouraging day! #good2bgreen

The 2013-2014 Basketball Sectional Champs will be recognized tonight at the JV/Varsity home basketball game against North Posey. Teams will be recognized in between games. The JV game beings at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a reception in the HS Library for all team members beginning at 5:30 p.m.

PC 4th grade students have been working hard and having fun in STEM class! Using the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum, Energy Exploration and solving: "How can we design a windmill prototype with blades that turn when moving air passes over them?"
They used the Engineering and Design Process to guide them through their learning journey. The design and Engineering Process allowed them to Ask, Explore, Model, Evaluate and Explain. The coolest part of the curriculum was learning about William Kamkwamba, “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” and applying the story to their classroom setting! The Perry Central Color Guard will be hosting a clinic in March and is inviting students currently in grades 6th-11th to attend. The color guard performs with the marching band at home varsity football games during the halftime show. The color guard brings the music to life for the band and is a performance art.
At the end of the clinic, attendees will have the chance to sign up for the upcoming season. Color guard, including the clinic, is free to all participants. Members have the option to purchase their own flag, but it is not required. The color guard coach is willing to work with other sport activities as long as members can make it to most practices and band camp which takes place the last week of July. Perry Central Preschool and Kindergarten enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is live online now. Click the link below to register online. "Welcome" enrollment packets will be mailed out later this month with more information. Children who will be four by August 1, 2024, are eligible to attend preschool and children who will be five by August 1, 2024, are eligible for kindergarten. Students currently enrolled in preschool at Perry Central do not need to register for kindergarten enrollment, they are automatically registered for next year. Save the date for our Developmental Discovery Night on Monday, February 26, 2024. Parents of Preschool and Kindergarten-aged children will learn about their children’s early education. There will be stations where children will be evaluated on specific developmental skills, with teachers and educational leaders there to share ways parents can help their children on specific early developmental skills.

You and your child will accomplish the following very important goals: Scheduling classes, mapping of flexible 4-year course plan to maximize time at PC and career pathway(s) established. Doors open 20 minutes prior to start. Our goal is to have 100% of student attendance, along with parent(s)/guardian(s). Attendance on scheduling night helps ensure your child's high school goals are met!
