Levi Clark and the STAND members will be hosting a Mock Car Crash tomorrow, May 4th in preparation for prom this weekend. The car crash simulates what could happen in a drunk driving incident. Many community members who are EMS volunteers as well as law enforcement will be on site at Perry Central to help as well. We appreciate their efforts to impress upon our students the seriousness of drunk driving.

The boys varsity baseball team is on a hot streak, beating their last 8 opponents by a combined score of 93-20. The teams they’ve beaten on the streak include North Harrison, Cannelton, and Clarksville as well as conference opponents Paoli (twice), Mitchell, Orleans, and Crawford County. The secret to their success is likely their strong performance on offense (averaging over 10 runs a game), paired with some stout defensive plays. The players have been building their team chemistry since conditioning started and plan to come in and play their game against conference rival Springs Valley this Thursday. The Commodores are 4-0 in the conference and a win against Springs Valley would put them a step closer to their goal of the title of 2023 PLAC Champions. We wish the boys’ team all the best!

The varsity boys basketball team had a challenging season, ending with a record of 7-17. However, they had two big wins against conference rivals, Crawford and Mitchell, which showed the team's potential when they were healthy and playing their best. At the end of the season, the team gave out their awards. Lucas Mitchell was named the team MVP, showing his leadership and ability to step up when needed, along with his consistently stout defensive performances. Jared Wagner was recognized as the most improved player, seeing more and more time on the court as the season progressed. Carson Guillaume was given the mental attitude award for his positive attitude and great work ethic. Coach Litherland encouraged the players to push themselves to be the best they could be and to never give up, even when faced with challenges. Throughout the season, the team showed growth and improvement, becoming more confident in the system that the coaches had in place. Younger players stepped up and took on bigger roles, showing their potential for the future. One of the biggest improvements for the team was in their team culture. The players worked hard to create a positive and supportive environment, which helped them to come together and play as a team. Despite the tough season, Coach Litherland will always remember how hard the players worked each day. Their dedication and perseverance were inspiring, and he believes that they will continue to grow and improve in the future.

The girls JV basketball team had a successful season with a record of 11-7. They secured big wins against Southridge and South Spencer, potentially being the only JV team to beat South Spencer. The team faced adversity early on, when their point guard, Celena Peter, turned her ankle and missed a few games as she recovered. This setback helped the other players to step up and learn to lead the team. Furthermore, the team also had to adjust when a leading shooter, Teyah Mullis, began making the transition to playing more varsity time and less JV. Despite these challenges, the team learned to work as a unit and improved their communication throughout the season. It is evident that the players put in an impressive amount of dedication into the season. The season had some funny moments, such as airballing free throws and missing open layups that the girls can look back on and can laugh about now! Overall, the JV team should be proud of their accomplishments and growth throughout the season. Coach Barnett voiced, “It truly was a joy to work with these girls. I learned a lot from them, and I hope they learned a lot from me.” 2022-2023 JV Girls Awards * Field Goal Percentage- Teyah Mullis (60-151, 40%) * Free Throw Percentage- Elizabeth Harpenau (19-28, 68%) * Rebounds- Jada Etienne & Elizabeth Harpenau (91, 5.4 per game) * Steals- Celena Peter (41, 2.0 per game) * Assists- Celena Peter (30, 1.9per game) * Defense- Celena Peter * Deflections- Celena Peter (41) * Most Improved- Gloria Sommer

The girls varsity basketball team had a challenging season this year with a record of 6-17, but down the final stretch of the season they had some huge wins that surely made it memorable. The team had two wins in conference against Springs Valley and a double overtime win at Orleans, where Katie Lynch made a buzzer-beating deep three that set the tone going into the second half. In fact, this double overtime win had the players so hyped up that they soaked Coach Elliott in water in celebration. Two other wins worth noting were against South Spencer and beating Tell City on Senior Night. The team showed improvement from the start to the end of the season. They started playing better basketball towards the end of the season and stayed healthy, and one of the biggest team improvements was taking care of the ball. Maggie Cunningham led the team in points per game and rebounds this year. Coach Elliott had positive things to say about the team, remarking, “They are a great group of young ladies who will do great things in life.” Overall, the season was memorable for the team. Despite the record, the team showed resilience and positive attitudes throughout the season, and we have high hopes for their future success. 2022-2023 Varsity Girls Awards * Field Goal Percentage - Jadyn Smith (61-167, 37%), MaKenna Labhart (34-93, 37%) * Free Throw Percentage - Emma Osborne (20-30, 67%), Makenna Labhart (14-21, 67%) * Rebounds - Maggie Cunningham (174, 7.6 per game) * Steals - Emily Parker (32, 1 . per game) * Assists - Jadyn Smith (44, 1.9 per game) * Defense - Emily Parker * Deflections - Jadyn Smith (50, 2.2%) * Charges - Jadyn Smith (5) * Most Improved - Teyah Mullis * Mental Attitude - MaKenna Labhart * Marcia Ransom - Emily Elmer * PLAC All-Conference - Maggie Cunningham * ICGSA Academic All-State Honorable Mention - Maggie Cunningham * IBCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention - Maggie Cunningham * HBCA Honors Court- Jadyn, Maggie, Parker, Emily Elmer, MaKenna, Madelyn, E, Katie, Emma, Teyah, Celena, Jada, Alyssa

The JV boys basketball team had a record of 11-11 this season, with some significant wins against South Spencer and Dubois; they also beat county rival Tell City twice. The team awards for the season went to Joe Mogan for most improved, Tyler Kleaving for mental attitude, and Wick Craney for the most efficient player. The coach had a very memorable quote from the season, "Don't let your highs be too high and your lows be too low." This quote helped motivate the team to stay focused and calm, and to always remember that no matter the outcome of a game, you must move forward. The team demonstrated significant growth from the start to the end of the season in every level of the game. Despite facing adversity in games and practices, the team always came together and fought through it. They learned how to play as one and not care who got the credit. One of the biggest team improvements was the growth of each player, as they learned to play as a team and not focus on individual achievements. Coach Hawkins also mentioned Tyler Kleaving's act of sportsmanship and determination, where he would play JV, then go play for the band before the varsity game, and then fill water bottles for the varsity game. There was a funny moment during the season involving the “Noah Hawkins jump stop” and it will be something all the players can look back on and have a good laugh. Overall, the team's never-die attitude, grit, and toughness will make this group memorable. The team worked hard and faced adversity with a positive attitude.

We want to thank everyone who donated phone books and special thanks to Mrs. Joyce Foury for organizing this for PC Family Outreach. We surpassed our goal for phone books and collected 1,580 phone books. 5th grader, Janelle Tribbie and her father donated books to help our school. Janelle’s dad works for the postal service and his fellow employees helped him collect books for PC! All proceeds go to the purchase of school supplies for students. #good2bgreen
